Vandana Saxena Poria was born and brought up in the UK where she qualified as a Chartered Accountant and then spent 10 years living and working in a multitude of countries in Central and Eastern Europe before moving to India in 2005.Vandana´s career started in the UK with HW Fisher, after which she joined Ernst & Young and then went on to set up the international division of Europe´s largest listed professional education company, BPP Professional Education, where she was CEO for 7 years. During this time, she set up a number of full time centres across Central and Eastern Europe, with off-site training in Asia and Africa.
Vandana is currently the CEO of Get Through Guides (GTG), a content creation and training company that she set up in 2006. GTG develops and publishes materials for international professional qualifications in the BFSI sector and also provides training to the top corporates in the Indian subcontinent. Within 5 years of Vandana setting up GTG, GTG has gone on to become an accredited publisher for the ACCA qualification – 1 of only 3 publishers globally. Around 1 million insurance agents are now using GTG produced materials to pass their insurance examinations. GTG is accredited for training by The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, The Institute of Chartered Accountants Sri Lanka, ICAEW, CIMA and others.
Vandana also works closely with the British Government to foster international trade for the UK and has given numerous presentations to promote business and understanding between the UK and India. She has held several positions with the British Chambers of Commerce in several countries. Since 2006 Vandana chairs the “British Business Group” in Punewhich was set up with the support from British High Commission. In the Queen´s Birthday Honours list announced on 14th June 2008, Vandana was honoured with an OBE for services to Trade and Investment, one of the youngest female Asians to be given the honour. Vandana is an acclaimed speaker and is often invited to speak at important events . She is the recipient of many national and international awards, in addition to her OBE honour.
Ms. Shernaz Mistry is one of the members of our Advisory committee. She is a veteran in Child development and skill enhancement techniques. She has more than three decades of teaching experience with Pre-school children. She has shifted her base from Jamshedpur to Pune and has been running a Pre-School by the name of ‘Little Elves’ for more than 17 years now. She is not only jack of all trades but master of many as well. She conducts special classes for English conversation at various schools. Shealso conducts workshops for pre-primary teachers in different schools.
